Sales of Kienna coffee pods have been brisk and I can certainly say the experiment has been a success. I first started with 15 blends of the coffee pods and now I’m selling 19 kinds. I’ve just brought in Kienna Rocky Mountain & Organic Peru coffee pods. I’ve have personally tried both and was most impressed by the Organic Peru pods. As anyone that shops here knows, you are always welcome to a complimentary cup of freshly brewed coffee so you can always try a new blend before buying it. Also, we sell the coffee pods individually so you can pick up a couple from a new blend and try them out at home first before purchasing a box of 18. What could be better. It’s what keeps people coming back to us.

Since my last newsletter I had a huge rush on the Kienna Kup pod adapter for Kueurig coffee machines. I sold out but they’re on my shelves once again and only $6.99 which includes 3 Kienna coffee pods to try out at home. If you have a Keurig machine and buy a pod adapter you’ll not only expand the range of coffee that you can enjoy, but you’ll also save a lot of money because Kienna coffee pods are cheaper than Kuerig capsules. Not to mention that you’ll be supporting a Calgary coffee roaster. Now you have even more choice to Northwest Calgary.

I hope you have a great day and an even better cup of coffee.

I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Very Happy New Year. I hope the holidays are a great time for you and your family. This fall & early winter have produced some wacky weather, warm, cold, big snow dump, snow melts and then we start the cycle all over again. Who said Calgary wasn’t exciting.

Last week I read an article about Kienna coffee online. They’re based in Calgary and someone from New York commented on how he had visited Calgary once in February and never experienced real cold until that trip nor since that trip. He sounded rather critical of the weather. It made me laugh. I think we’ve got it pretty good.

Our homes are always warm and dry regardless of how bad it gets outside.

We don’t worry about hurricanes, tornadoes, flooding (a few basements by the river doesn’t count), tidal waves, mudslides, or earthquakes. Even our snow, it’s not that bad at all. Very few trees are damaged each year and roofs are not collapsing. We don’t need to get up on our roofs and clear excessive snow fall. So what if we have to plug in our cars now and again? Big deal.

Of course there is driving. . .if driving in the snow is a problem for you, you need winter tires. All-season tires are nothing but an accident waiting to happen. For years I too thought they were good enough.

By the way, packing a couple of full carboys in your trunk is not a good way to gain traction. Just sayin.

I would like to thank everyone of you that voted for us. Even if you didn’t vote for us, I’ll never pass up an opportunity to thank my loyal clients. It’s because of you that we are successful. I’ve been operating a Wine Kitz franchise for over 8 years now and for the last six we have been an award winner in the Calgary Herald Readers’ Choice awards. It is truly gratifying. Although I can’t say it with absolute certainty I believe no other wine & beer making supply store in Calgary has a better record in these awards.

It’s kind of like the Peoples’ Choice awards in Hollywood. It’s the people paying to see movies that are choosing the winners.

If you’re considering attending our Wine Tasting on November 25th, please reserve your tickets soon. As of this writing we are 60% sold out. It’s going to be a fantastic evening.

Once again, I sincerely thank you for your ongoing support. Our goal is to help you make the best possible wine and beer while enjoying the complete process. A process that starts with you shopping for your kits and ends with you enjoying a glass that represents the fruits of your efforts.

Cheers and Many Thanks!

Steve Fylypchuk

Update: I now have a Keurig cup adapter that allows you to use compostable Coffee pods in many Keurig machines. Contact us to find out more.

Many people who drink coffee find themselves on the go all the time. Because of this, many companies have come up with solutions for these people to live their fast paced lifestyle but still be able to enjoy a good cup of coffee. There are two main products on the market that allow those with a fast paced lifestyle to enjoy a cup of coffee. These products are generally known as k-cups and coffee pods.

These products are different from each other, but they both offer convenience and time savings when it comes to making a cup of coffee. K-cups are pre-measured portions of ground coffee that are sealed in air-tight plastic or aluminum cups which seals in the aroma and flavour which allow for portioned coffee and maximum freshness. Coffee pods are very similar in that they are pre-measures, but there are more flavours of coffee available in this type and these can be used with any coffee pod brewer.

K-cups often have to be used with the specific coffee maker(s) (read Brand) for which they were designed, whereas pods can be used with practically any single serve coffee pod maker regardless of brand. Coffee pods have become very popular because they don’t have to be enjoyed with a particular coffee maker. Thus, those using coffee pods can try different brands without being stuck with a particular brand just because they bought a particular coffee maker.Because coffee pods are available in a large variety of flavours, they are generally more popular that k-cups.

Because of the fast paced lifestyle of many North Americans, the growth of k-cups and coffee pods has increased in recent years. K-cups and coffee pods owe their popularity to the busy lives of North Americans. Single serve coffee makers are now in high demand because these allow each person in a household to enjoy their own type of coffee and not be bound to the type of coffee others in the house enjoy. North Americans really enjoy their coffee and k-cups & coffee pods make enjoying a cup of coffee that much easier.

**Update: 89% Sold Out. **

This is the one you’ve all been waiting for. We are holding a wine tasting that will knock your socks off.

I often hear from you that you’re interested in ordering one or more of our limited releases but you just don’t know what to expect. Well you do not need to wonder anymore. We are holding a gala, black-tie event (Just kidding) but it will be outstanding just the same. I will be dressed in my best Wine Kitz apparel, as will all my staff. It’s the first you’ll see all of us together in one place.

Please watch the video, it’s only two minutes long. It will give you all the details you need. If for some reason you can’t see the video, (you may consider buying a computer that was made this century), but until then just call us and we’ll be happy to fill you in on the details. I really, really want you to take a peak at the video. I know how many people watch them because YouTube has a counter and I can tell that many just won’t spend the couple of minutes watching. So please humour me and watch the video. I would really appreciate it. Share it on Facebook, tweet about it, tell all your wine making friends. It’s going to be one heck of an event that you’ll be talking about for years to come. I’d like to stress that this is a wine tasting and not a wine drinking event. Drinking and driving will not be a concern even if you’re coming alone. In fact, I’ll also have some gourmet coffee from Kienna Coffee. If you haven’t tried our coffee pod brewer yet, now’s your chance.
